Software Systems Engineer
I am currently recruiting for a Software Systems Engineer to join a leading organisation based in South Wales. This is a hands on engineering role, sitting at the point where software meets physical hardware. A key part of this position will involve supporting and developing existing VB.NET control software systems, alongside contributing to future software projects using the most appropriate technologies
Salary - £55,000 - £60,000 per annum
Location - Bridgend
Responsibilities
- Design, develop and maintain software and control systems for automated machinery.
- Analyse software requirements based on product specifications and customer requirements.
- Develop software using VB.NET and other appropriate technologies.
- Produce system specifications covering software design, interfaces and product requirements.
- Develop test plans, procedures and supporting technical documentation.
- Work closely with engineering, product development and production teams throughout the design, build and testing lifecycle.
- Integrate software with physical hardware and machine control systems.
- Investigate and resolve software and system issues across development, testing and live environments.
- Implement bug fixes, system modifications and product enhancements.
- Support the continued development and maintenance of existing VB.NET control systems.
- Liaise with customers, contractors and other technical stakeholders where required.
- Provide occasional support for installations at customer sites internationally.

Experience Required

- 5+ years' commercial software development experience.
- Strong experience developing software using VB.NET
- Previous software development experience within an engineering, manufacturing, automation or machine-control environment.
- Experience or a strong understanding of software interacting with physical hardware.
- An understanding of machine control and/or motion control systems.
- HND, degree or equivalent experience within Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related discipline.
