At The Craneware Group
We're transforming the business of healthcare by turning complex data into powerful insights. Our SaaS platforms support healthcare organisations across the US, helping them make smarter, more sustainable decisions through innovative software, cloud technologies, data-driven solutions, and the practical application of AI where it delivers value.
With over 750 colleagues, we're continuing to invest in our platforms, engineering capability, cloud infrastructure and emerging technologies as we scale our products and expand the engineering leadership that helps us deliver safely, quickly, and at scale.
Hybrid working
This UK-based role follows a hybrid model, with approximately 40% of time per month spent in our Edinburgh office.
The Team
We're looking for a hands-on Software Engineering Manager / Team Lead to lead a high-performing team of approximately 6 software engineers, while remaining actively involved in software design, architecture, and development.
This is not a hands-off management role. You'll lead by example, setting technical direction, coaching engineers, and making meaningful contributions to the codebase. You'll play a key role in delivering scalable, cloud-native applications and services, with a particular focus on C#/.NET, Python, Azure, and large-scale data processing.
Your team develops products that process significant volumes of healthcare data, delivering actionable insights to customers across the US healthcare market. You'll collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Engineering, and customer-facing teams to shape solutions from concept through to production.
Why this role is different
- You’ll own both people leadership and technical delivery
- You’ll lead work incorporating AI tooling, including:
- Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
- AI-powered initiatives and experimentation
- Agentic frameworks and autonomous workflows
- You’ll help define how AI is used responsibly and effectively in production healthcare software
- You’ll influence platform direction, not just deliver tickets

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
