Salary: £60,000 - £85,000 DOE
Clearance Required: SC (DV desirable)

Typical Activities
Working in collaboration with customers, Software Engineering, Solutions & Architecture, Product and Programme teams, the Software Technical Lead will provide hands-on technical leadership for the design and delivery of complex software solutions across secure, cloud-enabled and cross-domain environments.
You Will
- Provide hands-on technical leadership across software delivery projects, owning technical direction and architecture
- Lead the design and delivery of secure cloud-native, distributed and microservice-based software solutions
- Support the development of cross-domain and multi-security-domain architectures, ensuring solutions meet customer assurance and information exchange requirements
- Act as the technical authority and escalation point for complex engineering challenges
- Lead technical design and code reviews, ensuring solutions meet security, performance, scalability, maintainability and quality requirements
- Work closely with customers and stakeholders to understand requirements, provide technical direction and build trusted relationships
- Collaborate with Project Managers, Product Managers and Engineering teams to support successful project delivery
- Support bids, technical proposals, project planning, estimation and the identification of technical risks and dependencies
- Define and promote software engineering standards, quality practices, testing approaches and automation
- Evaluate emerging technologies and contribute to new technical capabilities, engineering roadmaps and future customer offerings

What We're Looking For
- Proven experience providing technical leadership within software engineering teams delivering complex solutions
- Strong experience designing and delivering secure, scalable and maintainable software architectures
- Experience designing, delivering or operating solutions using Azure, AWS or other cloud platforms
- Experience with cloud-native applications, distributed systems and microservice architectures
- Strong understanding of containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience delivering software within secure, accredited or assured environments
- Strong understanding of secure software development and security-by-design principles
- Experience acting as a technical authority on customer-facing software projects and making architectural decisions
- Ability to translate customer and business requirements into software architectures, technical requirements and delivery plans
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to customers, engineers and senior stakeholders

- Knowledge or experience of Cross Domain Solutions (CDS) and assured data transfer between different security domains
- Experience integrating systems across multiple security classifications, deployment environments or organisational boundaries
- Experience providing technical leadership across multiple concurrent software projects
- Experience defining testing strategies and acceptance criteria within complex software environments
- Experience supporting technical bids, proposals and the development of new technology or solution offerings

Qualifications & Eligibility
To be eligible for this position you must:
- Have significant professional software engineering experience, including experience providing technical leadership for complex software solutions;
- Be a British citizen;
- Hold or be eligible for UK National Security Vetting (NSV) - SC level clearance. Existing or eligibility for DV clearance would be advantageous.
