Software Technical Lead

Up to £85,000 p/annum

Primarily Remote (Regional Offices plus B-weekly visit to London – fully expensed)

Security Clearance: Candidates must be eligible for security clearance due to the nature of the project.

CPS Group are supporting a leading IT Consultancy in the recruitment of multiple experienced Software Technical Leads to join a growing team delivering secure, technically complex projects across the public sector.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead with strong Full Stack and Java experience to take technical ownership across projects and provide direction to engineering teams.

As a Software Technical Lead, you’ll work as part of an Agile team, contributing across the full software development lifecycle while working closely with customers and technical stakeholders.

  • Providing technical leadership and direction across software development projects
  • Designing, developing and testing bespoke software solutions using Java, React, JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Supporting solution architecture, technical design and technology decisions
  • Working across a range of open-source technologies and libraries
  • Developing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab
  • Deploying applications across AWS, Azure and private cloud environments
  • Contributing across the full software lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to implementation, delivery and ongoing support
  • Working directly with customers to understand requirements and deliver practical technical solutions
  • Leading, mentoring and supporting engineering teams
  • Taking ownership of technical challenges and driving solutions through to delivery

Key Skills:

  • Strong commercial Full Stack development experience
  • Excellent Java development experience
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, React and TypeScript
  • Experience working with AWS/ Azure
  • Strong understanding of software architecture and technical design
  • Experience providing technical leadership or leading engineering teams
  • Experience working within Agile environments
  • Excellent customer-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Previous consultancy experience would be advantageous but isn't essential.
