Your role
As a Software Test Automation Engineer, your mission is to design, develop, and maintain a robust suite of automated tests and the supporting framework that manages execution and reporting. These tests are integrated into our Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline and play a crucial part in validating the functionality, performance, security, and overall quality of our cutting-edge software products. Your work will ensure the delivery of reliable and efficient solutions that meet the high standards of Edwards and our Vacuum Technique business area. You will
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test cases primarily using Python and C# to ensure comprehensive test coverage across software components.
- Extend and enhance the regression test frameworks to improve test reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
- Execute automated and manual tests within Azure DevOps and TeamCity environments, integrating seamlessly with our CI/CD pipeline.
- Contribute proactively to continuous improvement initiatives, with a focus on software security enhancements and leveraging cloud-based development tools within Azure.
- Develop test suites for cross-platform software targeting Windows and Linux, including resource-constrained embedded systems, ensuring compatibility and performance.
- Meticulously document all testing procedures, results, and best practices to maintain transparency and knowledge sharing.
- Stay informed on evolving software testing techniques, tools, and industry best practices to continually elevate the quality of our software testing processes.
- Collaborate effectively within an Agile Scrum team environment, following defined processes to deliver high-quality software iterations.
- Engage with cross-functional teams including software development, product management, and quality assurance to align testing strategies with business objectives.
- Occasionally travel to other Atlas Copco and customer sites across the UK, Europe, Asia, and the US to support testing and product deployment activities.

To succeed, you will need

- Proven proficiency in automated testing and development of test frameworks, demonstrating strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Extensive experience with Python and C# programming languages, including a solid understanding of object-oriented programming principles.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools such as Azure DevOps and TeamCity, including pipeline integration and test execution management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop software for cross-platform environments, with expertise in Windows and Linux systems; knowledge of Linux systems is highly advantageous.
- Familiarity with modern development and testing tools to build, run, and validate software components effectively.
- Experience documenting software architecture using industry-standard design patterns and best practices to facilitate maintainability and knowledge transfer.
- Strong enthusiasm for learning and integrating emerging technologies and methodologies into testing strategies.
- Working knowledge of Agile development methodologies, ideally with practical experience in Scrum and/or Kanban frameworks.
- Proficient in source control management using tools such as Git and Azure DevOps repositories.
- Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills enabling collaboration across diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Experience developing and managing CI/CD pipelines is essential to ensure smooth integration and deployment cycles.
