Requirements for the Role

£65 per hour | Inside IR35 | 12-Month Contract | Full-Time Onsite | Stevenage

Our client is a leading engineering and technology organisation operating at the forefront of defence and advanced technology programmes. They are seeking an experienced Software Testing Engineer to join a highly skilled team responsible for the testing, validation and release of complex simulation software used within mission-critical environments.

This is an excellent opportunity to work on cutting-edge projects, supporting the end-to-end software testing lifecycle within a collaborative Agile development environment.

The Role

As a Software Testing Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, executing and reporting on software testing activities, ensuring software releases meet functional, performance and quality requirements.

Working closely with software developers, project leads and stakeholders, you will play a key role in proving software functionality, investigating defects and supporting successful software releases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software test plans, test procedures and test cases
  • Execute functional, integration, regression and qualification testing
  • Perform software defect investigation and root cause analysis
  • Analyse software logs and test data to identify issues and support resolution
  • Support continuous testing throughout the software development lifecycle
  • Produce detailed test reports and provide regular progress updates
  • Support software release and certification activities
  • Work collaboratively with developers and project teams within an Agile environment
  • Contribute to the continual improvement of testing processes and methodologies

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience within Software Testing, Test Engineering or Quality Assurance
  • Experience creating and executing test plans, test cases and test scripts
  • Strong software test automation experience
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience using tools such as GitLab, Jira and scripting technologies
  • Strong defect management and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience analysing software logs and test data
  • Agile/Scrum experience
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
