Job Title
You'll own electrical design for utility-scale Solar PV and BESS projects end-to-end — from Concept through Construction-stage IFC packages — with the autonomy to run a project's electrical scope without senior sign-off. This is a hands-on design role, not a reviewer/oversight position: you're expected to produce client-ready deliverables independently.
Responsibilities
- Solar PV layout design and stringing/DC-AC cabling topology
- DC-coupled Solar+BESS hybrid architecture, including DC metering design
- Energy yield modelling and P50/P90 reporting
- Inverter selection and sizing (string and central)
- Full cable sizing calculations: current rating, voltage drop, short-circuit withstand
- Cable pulling calculations: conduit/trench fill ratios, pulling tension, sidewall bearing pressure, jamming ratio
- Preliminary and detailed BOQ production
- Site visit reports and constraints assessment

Qualifications
- 5–8+ years' electrical design experience in utility-scale Solar PV and/or BESS, with demonstrated ability to deliver design packages independently
- PVcase — proficient, daily-use level
- PVsyst — yield modelling and P50/P90 report generation
- Cableizer — cable sizing and voltage drop calculations
- AutoCAD — 3D layout, SLD, general arrangement drawings
- Working knowledge of inverter platforms (Sungrow, Huawei, Power Electronics) and battery chemistries (CATL or equivalent) advantageous

Standards
IEC 60364 / BS 7671 (electrical installations) · IEC 60502 (power cables 1kV–30kV) · IEC 61439 (LV switchgear and controlgear assemblies) · BS 7430 (earthing)
Nice to have
- IEng/CEng (IET), or working towards
- Experience on greenfield and landfill/brownfield sites
- Experience delivering projects to UK standards / within the UK renewables market
