Activ8 Solar Energies are actively seeking a Solar Design Engineer to join our Technical Operations team and be based out of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan. This is a full-time permanent position inclusive of a competitive salary, bonus, pension, healthcare and additional benefits.

The Opportunity:
As a Solar Design Engineer, you'll remotely assess residential properties using mapping tools and survey data to create precise installation plans. You'll support field surveyors and technicians, ensuring safe, efficient installations, and coordinate closely with operations, sales, and installation teams to streamline the pre-installation process.

Responsibilities Include:
- Interpret site photographs, field surveyor notes, and satellite imagery to remotely assess properties for solar PV system suitability.
- Generate or refine roof and ground mount layout drawings based on remote assessments.
- Accurately calculate roof space availability, panel positioning, and potential shading issues.
- Complete bill of materials for each project to ensure accurate material planning.
- Flag any health and safety, access, or structural concerns for escalation.
- Collaborate with field surveyors to clarify unclear information or request additional data.
- Work closely with design and operations teams to ensure pre-installation documentation is complete and accurate.
- Maintain accurate records in our CRM or internal platforms and ensure project files are fully updated.
- Identify risks and inconsistencies in surveys and escalate for resolution where required.
- Assist with updating and refining internal desktop survey standards as we scale.

Requirements:
- Prior experience in Solar PV system planning/survey/design with proven experience in remote desktop surveys.
- Technical knowledge of PV design system including module spacing, cable routing, inverters, batteries and mounting structures.
- Experience in residential PV layouts is required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical survey data.
- Working knowledge of cabling, ducting and electrical systems.
- Experience in mapping tools such as Google Maps, Bing Maps or equivalent.
- Familiar with Irish residential building types and residential roof structures.
- Advanced proficiency in English (written & spoken) is essential for this role.
- Comfortable collaborating across remote and field-based teams.
- Experience using CRM or project management tools such as Salesforce, Asana or equivalent.
- Living within a commutable distance of Carrickmacross, Co. Monaghan.
