Commercial Solar Design Specialist – Design + Client Facing
📍 Hybrid | Office, Site & Client-Based
The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Commercial Solar Design Specialist who can combine strong technical PV design skills with confident client communication.
This is a genuine 50/50 design and client-facing role — you’ll design commercial Solar PV systems, then get in front of clients to explain the solution, performance and commercial return. If you want to see your designs become real projects rather than sit behind a screen, this is the role.
What You’ll Be Doing
Design – 50%
- Design commercial Solar PV systems from concept through to installation
- Produce layouts, string designs, shading and yield calculations
- Select panels, inverters, mounting and associated equipment
- Complete site assessments and develop buildable designs
- Produce drawings, schematics, specifications and handover information
- Ensure designs meet DNO, grid, Building Regulations and industry standards
- Work closely with installation and delivery teams

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
