Solar Engineer
Solar Group Utilities is looking for an experienced Solar Engineer to support the ongoing operation, maintenance, and performance of utility-scale solar in the Cambridge area.
This is a hands-on, site-based role focused on keeping solar farms operating safely, efficiently, and at their best. You’ll be working on sites typically 3MW and above, carrying out fault finding, technical investigations, and supporting maintenance and system improvements.
You’ll be part of a growing engineering team, supporting the long-term performance of assets and helping identify and resolve issues across every site.

Key Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned and reactive engineering works on solar farms
- Diagnose and resolve electrical and system faults
- Investigate performance issues and identify root causes
- Support site inspections, testing, and technical reporting
- Ensure all work is completed in line with safety procedures
- Work closely with internal teams to maintain performance standards
- Support project works, commissioning, and system improvements
About You:
- Relevant electrical or engineering qualification
- Minimum 1 year of experience working in utility-scale solar
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving ability
- Good understanding of solar PV systems and associated equipment
- A safety-first mindset in all aspects of work
- Able to work independently and make technical decisions on site
- Flexible to travel across the UK with occasional overnight stays
