Role Description

The Solar Photovoltaic Electrical Engineer will work on-site in Marston Moretaine in a full-time capacity, focusing on the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of solar PV and associated electrical systems. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

The engineer will perform testing, inspection, fault-finding, and remedial works, and will document all work through accurate reports, test certificates, and as-built drawings. Collaboration with project managers, installation teams, and customers will be required to plan works, coordinate site activities, and provide clear technical guidance. The role also involves supporting continuous improvement in system performance, staying current with relevant regulations and technologies, and contributing to high-quality workmanship and customer service.

Qualifications

  • Strong solar PV engineering capabilities, including experience in designing, installing, and commissioning photovoltaic systems and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in electrical design and analysis, including sizing cables and protection devices, interpreting single-line diagrams, and working with inverters and battery storage systems.
  • Solid grounding in electrical testing and inspection, including use of appropriate test equipment, fault-finding, verification, and production of electrical certificates.
  • Knowledge of relevant electrical and renewable energy standards and regulations (e.g., BS 7671, MCS guidelines, DNO requirements) and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Competence in using design and documentation tools (e.g., PV design software, CAD or schematic packages, MS Office) to create layouts, calculations, and reports.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work cooperatively with site teams, project managers, and clients, and to explain technical issues clearly.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a methodical approach to installation quality.
