About One Energy Projects
One Energy Projects is a UK solar PV specialist working across domestic and commercial projects, and part of the One Energy Organisation. We deliver turnkey solutions, from feasibility and design through to installation, grid connection and long-term operations and maintenance.
With more than 20 years of industry experience and over 100 commercial projects delivered, we work with homeowners, manufacturers, landlords, healthcare providers and public sector clients. We are MCS certified, NAPIT approved and CHAS accredited.
Role Purpose
The Solar PV Installer installs, tests and commissions domestic and commercial solar PV systems, including rooftop and ground-mounted arrays. You will work as part of an installation team to deliver projects safely, to specification, on time and to the high standard our clients expect.
Key Responsibilities
Installation
- Install mounting systems, rails and fixings on a range of domestic and commercial roof types, including tiled, slate, metal sheet and membrane roofs, and ground-mounted structures.
- Install solar PV modules to design drawings and manufacturer instructions.
- Install inverters, isolators, combiner boxes and associated equipment.
- Install and route DC and AC cabling, containment and cable management neatly and securely.
- Read and work from system designs, layout drawings and single-line diagrams.

Electrical, Testing and Commissioning
- Carry out DC and AC terminations and connections.
- Complete testing and inspection, including insulation resistance, polarity, string open-circuit voltage and short-circuit current checks.
- Support system commissioning and grid connection alongside the Electrical Project Manager.
- Record test results accurately on the relevant certification and handover paperwork.
Health and Safety
- Work safely at height, using edge protection, harnesses, MEWPS and scaffolding in line with RAMS.
- Follow site rules, method statements and risk assessments on every job.
- Carry out daily inspections of tools, access equipment and PPE.
- Report hazards, near misses and incidents promptly.
Quality and Compliance
- Install to MCS standards, BS 7671 wiring regulations and manufacture guidance.
- Complete job sheets, photos and quality checklists for every installation.
- Help identify and resolve issues on site before handover.
Operations, Maintenance and Remedials
- Support health checks, fault finding and remedial work on existing systems.
- Help with planned maintenance visits, including inspections and module cleaning.
Client and Team
- Represent One Energy Projects professionally in customers homes and on client sites, and explain how systems work at handover.
- Work well with project managers, electricians, apprentices and subcontractors.
- Support and guide apprentices and less experienced team members.
- Keep tools and company property organised and in good condition.

Person Specification
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation, AM2 or AM2S, 18th Edition BS 7671, Level 3 Solar PV Installation, Inspection and Testing (2391 or equivalent).
- ECS card, working at height training.
- Proven experience installing solar PV/electrical systems on domestic, commercial or industrial sites.
- Can read drawings and single-line diagrams; confident with DC and AC terminations and testing.
- Safety-first mindset; reliable, punctual and hard-working; strong team player.
- Full UK driving license; comfortable working at height and outdoors; willing to travel and stay away when needed.
Desirable
- IPAF (3a/3b); PASMA; SSSTS/SMSTS, CSCS; first aid at work.
- Experience in both domestic and large-scale commercial solar PV; battery storage or EV charger installations.
- Experience with major inverter brands; fault-finding on existing PV systems.
- Experience mentoring apprentices.
Working Conditions
Most work takes place outdoors on domestic and commercial rooftops and at height, in a range of weather conditions. The role involves manual handling of panels, rails and equipment. Travel to site across the UK, with occasional overnight stays. Early starts may be needed to reach site on time.
