Solar Service Technician
Full-Time | Field-Based | $28–$35/hour
About This Role
SpartanX is seeking an experienced Solar Service Technician to support residential solar service operations across our active markets.
This is a hands-on field position focused on troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, commissioning, and post-installation service. We're looking for a licensed electrician with residential solar experience who can independently diagnose problems, determine the appropriate solution, and complete high-quality repairs while providing a professional homeowner experience.
What You’ll Do
- Troubleshoot and repair residential solar PV systems
- Diagnose inverter faults, production issues, monitoring failures, and electrical deficiencies
- Perform electrical repairs, equipment replacements, service upgrades, and warranty-related work
- Troubleshoot post-installation system and electrical issues
- Test and verify system functionality, monitoring connectivity, and restored production
- Interpret electrical drawings, site plans, one-lines, and system schematics
- Perform commissioning and recommissioning as needed
- Ensure all electrical work complies with NEC, local codes, AHJ requirements, and company standards
- Maintain accurate service documentation, photos, findings, and completion notes
- Communicate professionally with homeowners regarding findings, repairs, and next steps
- Coordinate with Service Management and Operations to resolve issues efficiently
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

What We’re Looking For
- Active electrical license required
- Previous residential solar service experience required
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Strong understanding of residential solar PV systems, inverters, monitoring platforms, and electrical equipment
- Knowledge of NEC and residential electrical code requirements
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and system documentation
- Ability to work independently and manage service appointments efficiently
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Professional homeowner communication and customer service skills
- Comfortable working on rooftops, ladders, and outdoors in varying conditions
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to safely lift, carry, and move equipment throughout the workday
Preferred Qualifications
- NABCEP certification
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
- Battery storage experience
- Experience with warranty and post-installation service work
- Experience with multiple inverter and monitoring platforms

Schedule
Primarily Monday–Friday, with occasional Saturday availability required.
