Astute’s Renewables Team is partnering with a global renewable energy services provider specialising in the delivery of engineering, construction, operations, and maintenance solutions for utility-scale renewable energy projects, to recruit a Solar Technician for sites in Yeovil.
The strategically important Solar Technician role comes with a salary of £35,000 – £45,000, company van, private healthcare, life insurance, and excellent training and progression opportunities.

Responsibilities And Duties Of The Solar Technician Role
Reporting to the Regional Manager you will:
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of ground-mounted solar assets.
- Test and inspect electrical systems, identifying faults and carrying out repairs where possible.
- Liaise with specialist equipment suppliers to troubleshoot technical issues on site.
- Complete daily reports detailing work carried out and site activities.
- Perform fault finding on both AC and DC systems.
- Ensure all work is completed in line with current HSE legislation and company procedures.
- Supervise third-party contractors on site when required.
- Participate in an occasional weekend call-out rota, with additional payment.
- Undertake occasional travel and overnight stays as required.

Professional Qualifications
We are looking for someone with the following:
- Previous experience working on utility-scale solar projects.
- Level 3 electrical qualification.
- ECS card is desirable
- 2391 Test & Inspection qualification is desirable.
- HV Authorised Person (AP) status is desirable.
- Good working knowledge of industry-standard testing equipment and electrical instruments.
Personal Skills
The Solar Technician role would suit someone who is:
- Dynamic with strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
- Knowledgeable about SCADA, CCTV systems, and solar technologies.
- Flexible and willing to travel to sites as required.

Salary And Benefits Of The Solar Technician Role
- £35,000 – £45,000 salary, depending on experience.
