SolarWinds Specialist
6-Month Contract | ASAP Start | £420 per day (Inside IR35) | Hybrid - Wiltshire
We're seeking an experienced SolarWinds Specialist to join a major enterprise environment supporting the delivery of critical observability and monitoring initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in enhancing monitoring capabilities, reducing technical backlog, and improving operational resilience across a large-scale infrastructure estate.
Working alongside internal infrastructure, application, and service management teams, you'll help drive monitoring improvements, automation, alert optimisation, and platform enhancements across Windows and Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, configure, administer, and optimise SolarWinds Orion Platform solutions.
- Onboard servers, applications, and infrastructure components into the monitoring estate.
- Enhance alerting, event management, and operational visibility across critical services.
- Investigate monitoring-related incidents, perform root cause analysis, and support issue resolution.
- Install and configure SolarWinds agents across existing infrastructure where required.
- Drive continuous improvements through alert optimisation and automation initiatives.
- Support the creation and maintenance of operational and technical documentation.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and service management teams to improve monitoring coverage and service visibility.
- Contribute to observability improvements including ServiceNow integrations, CMDB alignment, APM, DEM, and Azure monitoring initiatives.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience administering and configuring the SolarWinds Orion Platform.
- Proven experience supporting enterprise-scale monitoring environments.
- Strong Windows Server administration experience.
- Linux administration and monitoring expertise.
- Experience with event management, alerting, and monitoring automation.
- Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within technical teams.

Desirable Experience
- ServiceNow integration and ITSM process knowledge.
- Network and infrastructure monitoring expertise.
- Experience implementing monitoring standards, governance, and operational best practices.
- Exposure to Application Performance Monitoring (APM), Digital Experience Monitoring (DEM), and Azure monitoring capabilities.
