We’ve been exclusively instructed on a Head of Legal/Sole Counsel role with an international engineering business.
The business is at an exciting point in its growth, with an increasing proportion of its work coming from international markets and ambitious plans to build a more established global footprint over the next 3–5 years.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Legal Counsel looking to step into their first Head of Legal/Sole Counsel role and build the legal function as the business grows.

The role is based in Bristol and required 3 days a week in the office.
The Role
- Lead legal support for international growth and new market entry
- Advise on overseas structures, subsidiaries, branches and permanent establishment considerations
- Work closely with Finance, Tax, Sales and Operations across a growing number of international jurisdictions
- Act as a pragmatic legal and commercial adviser to Directors and senior stakeholders
- Oversee corporate, governance, compliance and wider legal risk
- Support the contracts team on complex customer, supplier, partner and commercial agreements
- Manage and coordinate external counsel in the UK and internationally
- Build greater structure and visibility around legal matters across the business
- Introduce and improve legal processes, systems and reporting
- Explore how legal tech and AI can help create a scalable and efficient legal function

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
