Covid-19 Solicitor
Service Care Solutions are seeking a dedicated Solicitor to join a high-profile public inquiry team based in Edinburgh. This is an exceptional opportunity to contribute to Scotland’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, working on a key legal project that aims to establish facts and learn lessons from the strategic handling of the pandemic in Scotland. Candidate Responsibilities
The Covid-19 Solicitor will:
- Provide general legal advice to the Inquiry Chair and team regarding the Inquiries Act 2005, the Inquiries (Scotland) Rules 2007, and data handling protocols
- Identify and recover evidence, read into materials, and develop lines of inquiry
- Take witness statements and guide statement takers
- Liaise with Counsel and solicitors representing various stakeholders
- Redact and disclose evidence following Inquiry policies and GDPR rules
- Support the management of hearings and the production of the final report
- Maintain the Inquiry’s independence and impartiality, adhering to the Register of Interests

- Qualified solicitor or advocate in Scottish Law
- Experience with public inquiry processes, litigation, or legal investigations
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to support a fast-paced, high-profile investigation

- Salary: £62,111 current C1 Salary: PAYE (INC)£276.66 LTD DAY RATE:£326.04
- Hybrid working arrangement - 2 days in the office minimum
- 12 month contract possible extension
