About the Company

A prestigious boutique firm is growing its Employment team in Bristol. This office didn't launch that long ago and is already building real momentum, making this a rare chance to get in early and grow with it rather than join an established machine.

About the Role

This is a small, genuinely boutique operation rather than a scaled-down version of a national firm. The Bristol Employment team is growing fast and building a solid reputation. You'd be working alongside colleagues who've come from big-firm backgrounds, so you get that quality of training and technical rigor, without the bureaucracy, the billable-hour pressure-cooker, or being one of forty associates fighting for a partner's attention.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Responsibilities

  • Running your own caseload of employment matters for a mix of employer and employee clients
  • Getting genuine exposure to both contentious work (Tribunal claims, disputes) and non-contentious advisory work
  • Working directly alongside experienced, big-firm-trained colleagues, with real access to their time and expertise
  • Playing an active part in a growing team, where your input actually shapes how things are done, not just following an established playbook

About You

  • You will be a qualified solicitor with 1–4 years' PQE in employment law, although applications will be considered from qualified NQs
  • Solid grounding in either contentious or non-contentious employment work, ideally some exposure to both
  • Keen to build a genuine long-term career within a growing team, not just clock up experience and move on
  • Comfortable working in a smaller, close-knit environment where you're visible and accountable, not anonymous
