Are you a solicitor with a genuine interest in working for local government?
East Dunbartonshire Council is looking for a talented, adaptable and enthusiastic solicitor to join our Legal Services team, and provide insightful, proactive and practical legal support across Council services.
We currently have a full-time, permanent vacancy for a solicitor in the Commercial Team.
What do we need?
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years PQE in conveyancing with experience of title reviews and reporting, commercial leases, disposals & acquisitions and a level of understanding of residential conveyancing (although applicants with alternative experience will be considered).
You should have initiative, excellent communication and people skills and a positive and pragmatic approach. Enthusiasm to try new areas of law and willingness to take on new challenges with a solutions-focused approach is desirable.

Working in local government can be very rewarding especially when working for a smaller council like East Dunbartonshire. You will be exposed to challenging and fulfilling work that allows you to build a profile and develop specific expertise within the organisation. Working in-house also affords the opportunity to create close working relationships with client services which is a great benefit for the organisation and gives you the opportunity to develop and build a network of diverse professionals.
The Legal Services team recognises that many of us have become accustomed to working in a different way and that flexibility is essential to maintain a good work life balance. Accordingly, members of our team are able to work the majority of their time at home if desired. We also promote flexibility in order to accommodate family and life commitments such as school pick-ups and drop offs, appointments etc.

Annual Salary: £49,363.55-£55,604.70 on an incremental scale.
A Level 2 Disclosure Scotland Check will be required for the successful candidate, prior to commencement of the post. The successful candidate will be required to pay for the Disclosure Scotland Check.
