Solicitor – Adult Social Care
Salary: £46,579 – £50,908 DOE
Location: South Wales | Predominantly home-based
Contract: Permanent
Hours: 37 hours per week

Moxie People are supporting a local County Borough Council with the appointment of a Solicitor to join their Legal and Compliance Team, predominantly supporting Adult Services.
This is a great opportunity for a qualified Solicitor or Barrister who enjoys advocacy, varied casework, and having ownership of their caseload, while benefiting from a predominantly home-based working environment.
And importantly, previous local government experience isn't essential.
The role
The position will manage a varied caseload of Adult Welfare and Adult Social Care matters, providing advice and litigation support to Adult Services.
- Court work forms an important part of the position, including advocacy within the Court of Protection.
- There will also be opportunities to provide legal advice and assistance across other Council Directorates and Committees, adding some welcome variety to the caseload.
- The role is predominantly home-based, with attendance at court and Council offices when required.

What are we looking for?
You'll need to be a fully qualified Solicitor or Barrister with a current practising certificate and have previous court advocacy experience.
- Court of Protection experience would be particularly welcomed, but it is preferred rather than essential.
- Previous advocacy experience doesn't need to have been gained within local government, so we'd be very interested in speaking with lawyers from private practice or other public-sector environments whose experience could transfer.
You'll also need to be:
- Confident managing your own caseload and undertaking advocacy
- Comfortable dealing with complex and sensitive matters
- A strong problem-solver with the ability to provide practical legal advice
- Self-motivated and comfortable working predominantly from home
- An effective communicator who can build relationships with a range of stakeholders
- A full driving licence holder with access to a vehicle for work purposes
