We are a leading law firm in Bromley known for providing exceptional legal services. Our dedicated team of solicitors is committed to delivering top-quality, personalised legal advice across a wide range of sectors. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Solicitor to join our Litigation team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to handle a varied caseload of commercial litigation and subrogated insurance recovery matters, while contributing to the continued growth and success of the department.
Objective Of Position
To provide clients, insurers and commercial organisations with expert, commercially focused litigation services across a broad range of disputed matters.
You will manage your own caseload of litigated and pre-litigated claims, including subrogated recovery actions, contractual disputes, debt recovery litigation, property damage claims, RTA-related recoveries and credit hire matters. You will act as a trusted advisor, delivering practical legal solutions that achieve positive commercial outcomes whilst maintaining exceptional client service.
You will also contribute to departmental profitability, business development initiatives and the supervision and support of junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a varied caseload of litigated and pre-litigated commercial and insurance recovery matters.
- Handle subrogated recovery claims on behalf of insurers and commercial clients.
- Manage disputes involving breach of contract, supply of goods and services, debt recovery, property damage and related commercial litigation matters.
- Conduct and defend RTA recovery and credit hire claims where required.
- Draft pleadings, applications, witness statements, settlement agreements and other Court documentation.
- Manage matters through the Small Claims, Fast Track, Intermediate Track and Multi-Track procedures.
- Negotiate settlements and pursue commercially beneficial outcomes for clients.
- Advise clients on litigation strategy, risk, costs and settlement options.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide responsive, commercially focused legal advice.
- Liaise with clients, insurers, counsel, experts, Court representatives and third parties.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Civil Procedure Rules and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure all documentation is up to date on the firm's case management systems.
- Meet departmental financial and performance targets.
- Assist with supervising and mentoring paralegals, trainees and junior colleagues where appropriate.
- Participate in business development, networking and marketing activities to support departmental growth.
- Handle client enquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Maintain the confidentiality of client and firm information at all times.
- Comply with all firm policies, SRA requirements, GDPR and information security procedures.

Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Qualified Solicitor (England & Wales);
- Legal Executive with authority to conduct litigation;
- Or other equivalent role.
Knowledge
- Knowledge of case management systems (desirable)
- Knowledge of commercial dispute resolution and recovery processes.
- Understanding of insurance litigation and subrogated recovery principles.
- Awareness of legal market developments and commercial considerations affecting clients.
- Knowledge of Court procedures and litigation funding, costs and enforcement processes.
Skills And Abilities
- Ability to quickly build strong, productive relationships with clients and colleagues
- Ability to work independently

- Good case management skills including ability to prioritise caseload and re-schedule as required to meet deadlines
- Good problem solving ability
- Ability to represent the firm in a professional and positive manner at networking and other events

- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- IT literate including good working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
- Ability to use and process cases via the firm’s case management system which provides clients with online access to files and a mechanism of communication.

- Ability to communicate courteously in a clear and concise manner with both clients and colleagues
- A polite, friendly and confident telephone manner
