About the Team
Our international Dispute Resolution team handles cases at all levels of national courts, in institutional and ad hoc arbitration and in alternative dispute resolution, including mediation. We handle high value, complex commercial disputes on behalf of clients including corporates, funds and financial institutions, governments and high net worth individuals. Our business is international like our clients. We regularly work in cross-border teams to deliver results in jurisdictions around the globe.
We operate as one Dispute Resolution team across London, Birmingham and Manchester in the UK as well as internationally across our global offices, and often work in cross-specialty teams with colleagues in areas such competition, real estate, tax, employment and technology.
The UK Dispute Resolution team comprises more than 25 partners and 70 other fee earners. Our highly regarded Birmingham office team includes 5 partners and handles all types of complex commercial disputes with particular specialisms in areas including international arbitration, technology, injunctive relief (including freezing orders and search orders), manufacturing, agency & distribution and competition litigation. The practice also has a very strong international focus, particularly with clients in Germany, the CIS region and Nordics. They are the only Midlands team recognised in tier 1 of Legal 500 for commercial litigation and civil fraud, as well as Band 1 in Chambers & Partners for litigation.
Due to continued growth, we are seeking a talented junior lawyer to be part of our international team. The role will be based in Birmingham but involve working on a number of cases with colleagues across the network.

Role Purpose
We are looking for a candidate from newly qualified to 2 years PQE in our Dispute Resolution team in Birmingham.
Our career development drivers set out what professionals are expected to demonstrate at each level of development. In this role, a Solicitor will be expected to contribute across the following areas:
- Business & Financial Management e.g. Demonstrate commercial awareness of own practice area and consistently meet hours/billing targets.
- Client Focus e.g. Build knowledge of clients and their sectors and attend and assist with organising client events and seminars.
- Working with People & Teams e.g. Build confidence in giving legal advice to clients, checking work with supervisor in advance.
- Business Development e.g. Shows awareness of how to identify potential new business opportunities and asks relevant and insightful questions in interactions with clients and colleagues.
- Technical Skills e.g. Interprets and solves problems using research and analysis.
- Knowledge & Innovation e.g. Expand knowledge of company types, structures and main characteristics and is able to recognise and evaluate an opposing point of view.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing thorough documentation required in the preparation of cases to trial
- Liaising with counsel/experts
- Liaising with clients and handling matters with the appropriate sensitivity
- Responsibility and management of an existing caseload
- Draft legal.
- Conduct legal research.
- Assist with business development initiatives.
- Ensure accurate and efficient recording of time and effective diary management.
- Liaise with clients, counsel, barristers, and external advisors, and other stakeholders in a professional and empathetic manner.
About You
We are looking for a candidate from newly qualified to 2 years PQE who thrives in a collaborative, market facing and high-performing environment. They will demonstrate excellent communication skills, deliver high-quality legal advice while building trusted relationships with clients and colleagues under appropriate supervision.
Experience and Qualifications
- Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales.
- Completion of a training seat in Dispute Resolution.
- Strong academic background and excellent drafting, analytical, and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Proven UK experience in complex and high value commercial litigation/arbitration.
- Experience of international arbitration work is desirable.
- A genuine interest in litigation work and a commitment to delivering high-quality client service.
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to client service and practice development.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team with the ability to contribute positively to team culture, promoting inclusion and collaboration effectively across global teams.
