The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor to join our progressive and nationally renowned Education Team and work closely with state-funded schools and further education clients on a wide range of day-to-day matters. Your role will include:
- Advising on pupil and parent-related issues, including safeguarding and welfare, Equality Act considerations, admissions and exclusions, complaints, and regulatory matters involving Ofsted and the Department for Education.
- Gaining exposure to strategic governance work, supporting trustees alongside our Charity team and sector specialists.
- Building experience across contentious and non-contentious matters, including regulatory investigations, tribunal claims, and judicial review proceedings.

Location flexibility: This role can be based in Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, or Manchester, with hybrid working available.

Key Responsibilities
General duties include, but are not limited to:
- Managing an individual caseload (with supervision where appropriate).
- Attending client meetings in-office or externally as needed.
- Collaborating across the Team and wider firm in a collegiate manner.
- Participating in knowledge-sharing initiatives across the Education Team.
- Maintaining prompt, clear communication with colleagues and clients.
- Upholding continuing professional development (CPD) and increasing expertise in education law.
- Supporting senior lawyers in complex matters such as regulatory investigations or tribunal claims.
- Striving to deliver work of the highest standard, adhering to Firm standards and core values.
- Regular attendance and preparation for Team and marketing/business development meetings.
- Assisting with client training, webinars, and sector-focused events.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor.
- Prior experience in providing legal advice to schools or clients in the education sector.
- Strong commitment to career development and further learning.
- Ability to manage an independent caseload while collaborating with teams.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to prioritise workload effectively, and high attention to detail.
- IT-literate with proficiency in legal software and Microsoft systems.
