The Opportunity

This is an exceptional opportunity for an Educational Solicitor to join our progressive, nationally renowned Education Team, working closely with state-funded schools and further education institutions.

Key Focus Areas

  • Advise on pupil and parent-related issues including legal safeguarding, welfare, Equality Act matters, admissions and exclusions, complaints, and regulatory matters involving Ofsted and the Department for Education.
  • Work across contentious and non-contentious matters, including trustee governance support and charity law.
  • Gain broad experience in the strategic, regulatory, and commercial landscape affecting schools and colleges.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client-Centric Work: Manage individual caseloads, liaising directly with clients either on-site or remotely.
  • Strategic Support: Offer board-level advice alongside our Charity and Sector Specialist teams.
  • Collaboration & Knowledge Sharing: Contribute to Team events, firm-wide training sessions, and business development activities.
  • Compliance & Quality: Adhere to Stone King’s standards, procedures and core values, attending Team and commercial meetings.
  • Early Involvement in Complex Matters: Assist senior lawyers with regulatory investigations, tribunal claims, judicial reviews, and related high-profile cases.
  • Continuing Professional Development: Proactively pursue CPD requirements within education law.

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Solicitor: NoFixed Post-Qualification Experience—career progression at all stages.
  • Sector-Specific Experience: Demonstrated experience in advising schools or education sector clients.
  • Strong Discipline and Commitment: Professional development mindset, prior handling of caseloads, and independent or team-based work.
  • IT Proficiency: Familiarity with legal systems and Microsoft applications.
