The Opportunity
We are inviting a Solicitor to join our progressive and nationally renowned Education Team, where you’ll work closely with state-funded schools and further education clients on a diverse range of day-to-day matters. Your role will include:
- Advising on pupil and parent-related issues, including safeguarding, welfare, Equality Act considerations, admissions, exclusions, complaints, and regulatory challenges involving Ofsted and the Department for Education.
- Gaining exposure to strategic governance, supporting trustees alongside our Charity Team and sector specialists.
- Supporting both contentious (litigation, tribunal claims, judicial reviews) and non-contentious matters while developing expertise in the regulatory and commercial landscape affecting schools and colleges.
This role is open to all career stages and offers a supportive environment to grow within our Tier 1-ranked Education Team (Chambers & Legal 500).
A flexible hybrid role is available across Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, or Manchester.

Key Responsibilities
- Managing an independent caseload (under supervision where needed).
- Direct engagement with clients, whether at the office or remotely.
- Collaborating with immediate and wider team members, fostering knowledge-sharing.
- Prompt and clear internal (colleagues) and external (clients) communication.
- Maintaining CPD compliance and actively expanding expertise in education law.
- Supporting senior lawyers in complex regulatory matters (e.g., Ofsted investigations, tribunals).
- Adhering to firm standards, procedures, and values for client deliverables.
- Participating in team, marketing, and business development activities.
- Assisting with client training, webinars, and sector events.
Essential Requirements
✅ Qualified as a Solicitor—We support кандидатов at all career stages and provide mentoring and development. ✅ Prior experience in advising schools or education sector clients (e.g., safeguarding, exclusions, governance). ✅ Strong commitment to professional growth and furthering legal knowledge. ✅ Ability to manage an independent caseload, work independently and collaboratively. ✅ Excellent communication, workload prioritisation, and detailed precision. ✅ IT proficiency in legal software (e.g., CaseWare) and Microsoft systems.
