The Opportunity
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Solicitor to join our progressive and nationally renowned Education Team. You’ll work closely with state-funded schools and further education clients, advising on:
- Pupil and parent-related issues (including safeguarding and welfare, Equality Act considerations, admissions and exclusions)
- Complaints and regulatory matters (such as Ofsted and the Department for Education)
- Strategic governance work, supporting trustees alongside our Charity team and sector specialists
This is a varied role offering exposure to both contentious and non-contentious matters. You’ll gain insight into the broader regulatory and commercial landscape affecting schools and colleges.

Location
This position can be based in Bath, Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds or Manchester, with hybrid working available.

Key Responsibilities
General duties include:
- Effectively manage an individual caseload (under supervision when necessary).
- Attend clients in the office or elsewhere as needed.
- Work collaboratively within the team and across the firm.
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives across the Education Team and wider organisation.
- Maintain prompt and effective communication with colleagues and clients.
- Fulfill continuing professional development (CPD) requirements while expanding knowledge of education law.
- Support senior lawyers in complex matters (e.g., regulatory investigations, tribunal claims, judicial review proceedings).
- Adhere to the firm’s standards, procedures, and core values in all work.
- Attend and prepare for team meetings and marketing/business development activities.
- Assist in preparing and delivering client training, webinars, and sector events.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor: Training and support provided for growth.
- Prior experience in offering legal advice to schools or education sector clients.
- Strong commitment to career development and continuous learning.
- Ability to handle a caseload independently or as part of a team, with strong workload prioritisation.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) with a focus on clarity and impact.
- High attention to detail and correctness.
- Proficient with legal software and Microsoft systems.
