Who are we?

Help shape the future of Lifetime Planning at Redkite. At Redkite Solicitors, we’ve been advising individuals, families and businesses for over a century, but we are firmly focused on what comes next. As one of the fastest-growing full-service law firms in Wales and the South West, we are continuing to evolve our Private Client offering with ambitious growth plans, modern leadership and a people-first culture.

Private Client is one of the firm’s largest and most strategically important departments, playing a significant role in both our growth and the experience we deliver to our clients and communities. As part of our long-term vision, we have evolved our Private Client offering into specialist Probate and Lifetime Planning teams. We believe this allows us to better support clients through increasingly complex personal, financial and family situations, whilst also giving our lawyers the opportunity to deepen their expertise and build meaningful, long-term client relationships.

The legal market has changed significantly over the last 25 years. Rising regulation, increasing competition from online and volume providers, and growing complexity in clients’ personal and financial affairs mean firms must continually evolve to remain relevant and deliver real value.

At Redkite, we have made a conscious decision about the type of firm we want to be. We are not a volume provider. We focus on delivering high-quality, relationship-led legal services to clients who value expertise, trust and exceptional client care.

In Lifetime Planning, our role goes beyond drafting documents or providing technical advice. Clients often come to us with a broad sense of what they want to achieve, but not always a clear understanding of the risks, options or wider implications. We take the time to understand what truly matters to each client – their priorities, concerns and family dynamics – helping them make informed decisions and put plans in place that provide clarity, control and peace of mind. We want to work within the communities we know best, building long-term relationships and becoming trusted advisers to generations of clients and families. That means delivering excellent service whilst continuing to build deep expertise across the areas of law we practise.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Our Lifetime Planning team encompasses Wills, trusts, LPAs, succession planning and wider lifetime and wealth planning matters, bringing together all aspects of future planning outside of Probate.

Whether you are newly qualified or an experienced Partner, we are looking for commercially aware, personable and ambitious individuals who want to help shape the future of Private Client law at Redkite.

Our approach to client experience

We believe great Lifetime Planning lawyers don’t just respond to instructions – they help clients define what they need. That means asking thoughtful questions, identifying risks clients may not yet have considered, and addressing the wider emotional and practical context around their decisions. Our aim is to give clients confidence in the future, knowing their affairs are structured in a way that reflects what matters most to them.

Requirements

What will you be doing?

  • Work closely with individuals, families and business owners to provide practical, thoughtful and commercially minded advice around future planning and asset protection.
  • Take the time to understand each client’s wider circumstances – including their priorities, relationships and long-term objectives – ensuring your advice reflects what matters most and helps them plan with confidence.
  • Depending on your level of experience, your role may include:
    • Proactively identifying clients’ underlying needs, risks and objectives – not just responding to the immediate instruction
    • Advising on Wills, trusts and LPAs
    • Supporting succession and estate planning matters
    • Building strong relationships with clients and referrers through a deep understanding of their needs and priorities
    • Networking and business development activity
    • Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues
    • Helping shape and grow a modern Lifetime Planning offering

This is a people-focused role suited to someone who enjoys relationship-building, communicating with empathy and becoming a trusted adviser to clients over the long term.

What are we looking for?

At Redkite, we believe great lawyers are not defined purely by technical expertise. We are looking for people with personality, warmth, commercial awareness and strong relationship skills.

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Able to guide clients who may be uncertain, translating complex legal and financial concepts into clear, practical advice
  • Skilled at identifying underlying concerns and helping clients make confident decisions about the future
  • Qualified, with experience within Lifetime Planning
  • Personable, engaging and client-focused
  • Commercially aware and proactive
  • Strong communicators with emotional intelligence
  • Collaborative and supportive team players
  • Motivated to build relationships and grow networks
  • Passionate about delivering exceptional client experiences

Unlike Probate, this work is forward-looking – focused on helping clients shape the future rather than responding to past events – making it a uniquely rewarding and advisory-led area of law.

Most importantly, we are looking for people who align with Redkite’s values:

  • Trust: We build lasting relationships through honesty, integrity and doing the right thing for our clients and colleagues.
  • Bold: We embrace fresh thinking, innovation and ambition, challenging ourselves to continually improve.

What is in it for you?

We’re committed to creating a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing legal team. You’ll be joining colleagues who are not only legally excellent but also commercially astute, down-to-earth and with a culture of “kind leadership”. We value trust, boldness, excellence and teamwork, and we want you to thrive as part of that.
