Solicitor – Life Impact Team
Are you a skilled and motivated legal professional looking to make a meaningful difference? Join our Life Impact Team as a Solicitor, working with clients who have experienced significant and lifelong injuries, including survivors of sexual, physical and mental abuse. You will help clients pursue justice through civil claims while providing clear, sensitive and client-focused legal support.

About the Role
As a Solicitor in our specialist Life Impact Team, you will work on sensitive and complex personal injury claims. The team supports survivors of abuse using a trauma-informed approach that puts clients at the centre of their case. You will:

- Manage a diverse caseload of personal injury claims, including sensitive and complex abuse claims and litigated matters, ensuring cases progress effectively and clients are supported throughout the process.
- Maximise cost recovery while meeting or exceeding financial targets.
- Handle all aspects of case preparation and litigation, including drafting pleadings and motions, conducting liability investigations, gathering witness statements, obtaining relevant records and evidence, liaising with medical and other experts and engaging in settlement negotiations.
- Support the development of colleagues, including Legal Assistants and Trainees, where appropriate to your level of experience.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and external professionals/support organisations to provide a sensitive, coordinated and client-centred service, while ensuring compliance, reporting and continuous improvement within the department.
The work requires empathy, sound judgement and the ability to communicate clearly with clients who may be dealing with difficult and traumatic experiences, while maintaining the highest standards of confidentiality and professional care.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified Solicitors: We welcome applications from solicitors at all levels of qualification. The level of appointment and remuneration will depend on relevant experience.
- Experience: Personal injury experience in Scots Law is essential. Experience of litigation and/or sensitive or complex claims would be advantageous. Specialist training and development will support your work within the team.
- Skills: Excellent negotiation, litigation and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Team Contribution: The ability to work collaboratively and, where appropriate, mentor and support Legal Assistants and Trainee Solicitors.
- Results-Driven: A proactive approach to achieving individual and team targets, meeting key performance indicators and delivering outstanding outcomes and client service.
