I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The culture is warm, inclusive and supportive. Partners here are approachable and hands on, taking a direct interest in the people around them, which makes this a strong environment in which to build the foundations of a litigation career. The disputes team has grown considerably and the firm is now in a period of organic growth with real momentum behind it.
The Role
You will work directly alongside a partner and senior members of the disputes team, with genuine responsibility from the outset and structured support at every stage. The partner you report to will be closely involved in your development, giving you the kind of one to one mentoring that is increasingly difficult to find at this level.

Your very own career expert that helps elevate your application to the next level.
Rather than being pigeonholed early you will build experience across the full range of the team's caseload, spanning commercial litigation including shareholder disputes and breach of contract claims, complex professional negligence matters, contentious insolvency work and civil litigation including contentious trusts, probate and landlord and tenant disputes.
There is real scope over time to take ownership of your own matters and develop your profile within a team that is genuinely invested in your long term progression.

Newly qualified solicitor or above with a background or strong interest in litigation
