About the role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Solicitor with at least 3 years' post-qualification experience (PQE) to join our Legal team on a maternity cover basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a residential property specialist to take on a varied and rewarding role, combining technical legal expertise with team leadership responsibilities.
You will lead a team of paralegals while managing a broad range of residential property matters, including shared ownership sales, leasehold sales and purchases, staircasing transactions, resales, and general conveyancing work. Working closely with internal stakeholders, you will provide practical legal advice, ensure regulatory compliance, and support the delivery of residential development schemes.
The successful candidate will be a confident communicator with strong technical knowledge of residential conveyancing and affordable housing transactions. Experience of shared ownership schemes would be highly advantageous.

The role is based in our London office with hybrid working of three days per week in the office and two days from home, if required.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead and support a team of paralegals, ensuring high standards and timely delivery.
- Manage residential property matters, including shared ownership, resales, staircasing, leasehold transactions and conveyancing.
- Provide practical legal advice and resolve complex property issues.
- Lead legal set-up work for residential developments, including plot sales documentation.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, AML requirements and Homes England guidance.
- Build strong stakeholder relationships, deliver legal updates and support continuous improvement.
About you
- Qualified Solicitor in England and Wales
- Minimum 3 years' post-qualification experience in residential conveyancing and property law.
- Strong experience handling residential property transactions from instruction through to completion.
- Knowledge of affordable housing and shared ownership schemes is highly desirable.
- Previous experience supervising, mentoring or managing junior legal professionals or paralegals.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
- Flexible and proactive approach, with a commitment to delivering high-quality legal services.
Desirable
- Experience working within the affordable housing sector, housing association environment, or a law firm with a strong residential development or shared ownership practice.
- Experience supporting residential development projects and plot sales.
