We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in Oxfordshire, who are recruiting for a Solicitor to support their Trading Standards team on an initial 3-month locum contract.
They are looking for someone on a full-time basis, and the rate of pay is negotiable between £50 - £60 p/hour via an Umbrella company.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in crime and regulatory work to conduct trading standards work within local government.
Duties
- Drafting and reviewing documents and agreements to ensure that policy is formulated
- Advising and conducting advocacy on a wide range of criminal and regulatory matters from the outset of proceedings to conclusion including trading standards, health and food safety, fraud, planning, highways, school attendance, environmental, blue badge misuse
- Advising and litigating straightforward and complex civil litigation cases to include judicial review, contractual disputes, commercial property disputes, debt recovery, insolvency and bankruptcy
- Providing legal and procedural advice to Members and training to Members and client Services

Experience Required
- Experience required in Local Government
- Highly confident advocating in court
Working Hours
- 37 hours per week
- Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
