Solicitor (Transactions)
We are looking for a Solicitor (Transactions) to provide high-quality legal advice on property-related matters and other transactional, non-contentious matters to Southern Housing and its Group partners.
You will undertake freehold and leasehold conveyancing across residential and commercial property matters, draft property-related transactional documents and contracts, and advise on legal and regulatory issues. You will also support colleagues by providing effective training on a variety of property and contractual law topics.
This is a varied and rewarding opportunity for a qualified legal professional who wants to use their expertise to support an organisation with a strong social purpose.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Provide legal advice on routine and more complex property matters with support as appropriate to your level of skill and experience
- Undertake freehold and leasehold residential and commercial conveyancing
- Draft transfers, leases, development agreements, management agreements, service charge deeds, reports on title and other property-related documents
- Dependent on your level of experience, advise on commercial contracts, Section 106 agreements and lease terms
- Support the development of in-house legal services and efficient processes
- Liaise with colleagues, clients, suppliers and external partners
- Keep up to date with relevant legal and regulatory requirements
- Support junior team members and provide cover for the Legal Services Manager when needed

This role is based in our office at Farringdon (London) and offers a hybrid working with the option to work from home up to 3 days per week. Work from home days to be agreed with line manager.
What you will need:
- Qualified CILEX Lawyer, Solicitor or person eligible to apply for admission as such
- Previous property law and/or conveyancing experience (particularly working in social housing or for other public sector bodies)
- Previous experience of dealing with complex property transactions and commercial contracts
- Ambition to provide a fantastic service as part of the Legal Services team
- Excellent IT skills in particular Microsoft Office suite and Outlook, and able to work with a case management system
- Ability to present information in a variety of forms to a high standard, including excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent drafting skills
