Solicitor – Wills & Probate
Salary: £55,000 per annum
Minimum Experience: 5 years' Post-Qualification Experience (PQE)
Reports to: Principal Solicitor
Purpose of the Role
To manage a private client caseload including wills, probate, estate administration, lasting powers of attorney and Court of Protection matters, delivering practical legal advice and exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on wills, estate planning and succession matters.
- Prepare wills, trusts and lasting powers of attorney.
- Administer estates from instruction through to completion.
- Advise on inheritance tax and estate planning.
- Prepare probate applications and deal with estate administration.
- Advise on Court of Protection and deputyship matters where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Participate in networking, marketing and business development activities.
- Supervise and mentor paralegals, trainee solicitors (where applicable), volunteers and work experience students as required.
- Delegate work appropriately and oversee the quality and timely completion of delegated tasks.
- Assist with the training and development of junior members of the team.
- Meet agreed billing, file management and performance targets.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required by the Principal Solicitor.
- Support and conduct file reviews as required.

Essential Requirements

- Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE.
- Strong experience in private client work.
- Excellent drafting and client care skills.
- Ability to manage files independently.
- Demonstrable ability to supervise and support junior staff, including paralegals, volunteers and work experience students.
- Strong organisational and communication skills.
- STEP qualification desirable but not essential.
