Solicitor x2, Permanent, 35 hours per week, £56,921pa

It is an exciting time to join the Law Society of Scotland. We have two opportunities within the Regulation team for Regulation Solicitors, supporting the Society as we implement significant changes arising from the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2025.

Both roles will provide high-quality legal, regulatory, policy and governance support and offer the opportunity to help develop regulatory frameworks, policies and processes that are clear, proportionate and workable in practice. The roles have different areas of focus, with one concentrating on authorised legal businesses and licensed legal services providers, and the other on the implementation and ongoing operation of the new complaints provisions.

At the centre of our organisation are the values of Respect, Openness, Progress, Inclusion, and Integrity which drive our teams to deliver the best possible service for the legal sector and beyond.

The Opportunities:

Regulation Solicitor – Authorised Legal Businesses and Licensed Legal Services Providers

This role will support the development, implementation and operation of the regulatory frameworks for authorised legal businesses and licensed legal services providers, including rules, guidance, policies and regulatory processes. You will also act as Secretary to the Rules, Waivers and Guidance Sub-Committee and act as Information Governance Champion for the Regulatory Compliance team.

Regulation Solicitor – Complaints

This role will support implementation of the new complaints provisions under the Regulation of Legal Services (Scotland) Act 2025, helping to develop the policies, rules, processes, guidance and operational arrangements required to put the new provisions into practice. As implementation progresses, the role will transition into the Professional Conduct Team, supporting the ongoing delivery and development of the Society's complaints-related regulatory functions.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
