Generalist Solicitor
Service Care Solutions are currently working alongside a well-established Local Authority in Warwickshire, which is seeking an experienced Generalist Solicitor to join its legal team on a contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Solicitor with broad experience across multiple areas of law to support a busy local authority legal department. The successful candidate will be expected to provide legal advice and assistance across a wide range of council functions, supporting the authority in managing complex legal matters and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation.
Role: Generalist Solicitor
Location: Warwickshire / Hybrid Working
Umbrella Rate: £45–£55 per hour, depending on experience
PAYE Rate (including holiday pay): £39.95–£48.83 per hour, depending on experience

Contract: Initial 3-month contract, with the potential to extend
Responsibilities as a Generalist Solicitor
- Provide comprehensive legal advice and support to the Local Authority across a broad range of legal practice areas.
- Manage a varied caseload covering different council functions, adapting to the changing priorities and demands of the legal department.
- Draft, review and advise on legal documents, contracts, agreements, policies, and formal correspondence.
- Advise council officers, senior management, and other stakeholders on legal risks, statutory obligations, and regulatory requirements.
- Support the authority with litigation, dispute resolution, and other contentious matters where required.
- Interpret and apply relevant legislation, regulations, case law, and statutory guidance to ensure the council operates lawfully.
- Work collaboratively with internal departments to deliver practical, commercially aware, and legally sound solutions.
- Identify and manage legal, financial, and reputational risks affecting the authority.
- Maintain accurate case records and ensure all work is completed in accordance with professional standards and internal procedures.
