We're looking for a talented Solicitor to join our Medical Negligence team in Cambridge.

At Irwin Mitchell, our work goes far beyond securing compensation. We help people and families find answers, achieve accountability and access the support they need following life-changing injuries and medical treatment failures. As one of the UK's leading Medical Negligence practices, we represent clients in some of the most complex and significant clinical negligence cases in the country.

Our Cambridge team specialises in a broad range of clinical negligence claims, including cases involving birth injuries, delayed diagnosis, surgical errors, cancer misdiagnosis, neurological injuries and failures in mental health care. Every case is unique, but all share the same objective: helping our clients rebuild their lives whilst seeking answers and justice.

Your Role

You'll join a highly experienced and nationally recognised team led by Partner Julie Lewis, Regional Head for the South and Head of the Bristol Medical Negligence team.

Julie is recognised for her expertise in complex and high-value clinical negligence claims, particularly those involving birth injuries, fatal claims, delayed diagnosis and inquest work. Working alongside Julie and the wider team, you'll gain exposure to a diverse range of challenging cases whilst developing your career within one of the UK's most respected claimant practices.

As part of the role, you'll:

  • Manage your own caseload of clinical negligence claims, including litigated matters.
  • Assist partners and senior lawyers on high-value, complex and multi-faceted cases.
  • Provide clear, practical and compassionate advice to clients and their families.
  • Work closely with medical experts, counsel and colleagues across the firm to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Support clients through what are often some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
  • Contribute to the continued growth and success of a leading Medical Negligence team.

We’re looking for someone who combines technical excellence with genuine empathy:

  • Up to 6 years' PQE with experience in Claimant Clinical Negligence matters.
  • Experience managing your own caseload, including litigated claims.
  • Strong technical skills and the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice.
  • Experience supporting senior lawyers on complex, high-value cases.
  • Excellent client care and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational and case management abilities.
  • The ability to work independently whilst collaborating effectively within a team environment.
  • A genuine commitment to achieving the best outcomes for clients.
