Role Description

This is a contract Solution or Security Architect role in Bristol and Chippenham offered on a hybrid basis with some work from home flexibility. The architects will design and refine security architectures for client and in-house cyber security products, ensuring solutions meet both business and regulatory requirements.

Day-to-day work includes:

  • Assessing existing systems
  • Identifying risks
  • Defining secure patterns
  • Producing architecture documentation, diagrams, and standards

The role involves collaborating with engineering, product, and client teams, guiding technical decisions, and conducting security reviews, workshops, threat/risk analysis, and producing security architecture artefacts. The architects will also support implementation teams, provide technical leadership during delivery, and contribute to continuous improvement of ACTIONABLE’s security frameworks and methodologies.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in security and/or solution architecture, including designing end-to-end systems, integration patterns, and scalable, resilient technical solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of security architecture principles such as zero trust, defense in depth, secure-by-design, and industry-standard frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001, Mitre Attack/Defend).
  • Past hands-on experience with engineering systems, private and public cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and associated security services, networking fundamentals, and identity and access management.
  • Proficiency in threat/risk analysis/assessment, security controls design, and producing clear technical documentation and architecture artefacts.
  • Ability to translate complex technical concepts into practical guidance for engineering teams and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CCSP, SABSA, TOGAF, or cloud security certifications) are beneficial but expertise/experience and evidencial works are most important.
  • Previous experience in cyber security operations environments or consulting roles is an advantage.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in cross-functional teams in a hybrid setting.
