Solution Architect - Engineering / Maintenance & Repair Programme
UK (Hybrid) | 6-Month Contract | £800 - 900 per day (Inside IR35) | Major enterprise transformation programme
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join a large-scale transformation programme focused on modernising engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and operational systems. This role will play a critical part in shaping the future-state architecture for a complex Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) environment, supporting the implementation of modern ERP platforms, cloud technologies, and business-critical applications.

- Rate: £800 - 900 per day

This opportunity is ideally suited to an architect who understands the operational challenges of engineering-led organisations and has experience delivering transformation within highly regulated, asset-intensive environments.
About the Organisation
Our client is investing significantly in the modernisation of core business processes, operational systems, and enterprise technology platforms (SAP). The programme spans engineering and maintenance operations, supply chain, commercial functions, and compliance, with a focus on building scalable, future-ready capabilities.
Operating within a complex and highly regulated environment, the organisation is undertaking a major transformation to improve operational efficiency, governance, and technology enablement.

Responsibilities
- Define and own solution architecture across engineering, maintenance, supply chain, and enterprise systems
- Design target-state architecture aligned to business transformation objectives
- Ensure solution designs support MRO operations, asset management, maintenance planning, inventory management, and operational workflows
- Lead architecture governance, design assurance, and technical decision-making across the programme
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, delivery teams, vendors, and programme leadership
- Drive application modernisation and cloud adoption initiatives
- Define integration approaches across ERP, operational, and third-party platforms
- Ensure solutions meet regulatory, security, compliance, and operational requirements
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect on large-scale transformation programmes
- Strong background within engineering, aviation, aerospace, manufacturing, defence, rail, utilities, or other asset-intensive / highly regulated industries
- Deep understanding of maintenance operations, engineering processes, asset management, and supply chain environments
- Experience delivering ERP-enabled business transformation programmes
- Strong architecture governance and stakeholder management capabilities
- Ability to translate complex operational requirements into scalable technology solutions
- Experience working within regulated environments where compliance and operational resilience are critical

Desirable Experience
- ERP transformation experience, including SAP S/4HANA programmes
- MRO (Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul),
- AWS cloud architecture and modernisation experience
- Knowledge of engineering systems, inventory management, logistics, and maintenance planning tools
- Experience supporting large-scale technology and organisational change initiatives
