Role Title: Solution Architect

Duration: contract to run until 31/03/2027
Location: Remote
Rate: up to £598p/d Umbrella inside IR35
Clearance required: Active SC Clearance essential

Role purpose / summary

Designs application products to meet user needs and align with DWP strategy and standards. Provides a consistent set of application product architecture views, that communicate and describe the construction of the solution to all stakeholders. Solution communication champion, making the complex simple to understand. Supporting delivery teams, blending technical (development and architecture) and behaviour (leadership and communication) skills.

Responsibilities

  • To design and represent architecture solutions
  • Deliver the technical and architecture design elements of projects / initiatives
  • Build relationships and work collaboratively with other Digital professionals
  • Create solution options and recommendations during project discovery and inception phases, to drive decision making on best solution design
  • Make technology choice proposals for Products
  • Create high-level solution architecture documentation and architecture design artefacts for governance, including all relevant SME input.

  • To ensure compliance of design with approved design in the Digital Blueprint

  • Ensure technical quality and adherence of Product designs to the Digital Blueprint, Enterprise Architecture and Product Roadmaps

  • Engage with Domain and Lead Solution Architects and engineers to implement solutions according to agreed and approved designs

  • Advocate and support delivery of solutions that reduce architecture complexity and reduce technical debt

  • To maintain Product roadmaps and help maintain the Digital Blueprint

  • Be accountable for product architecture, contribute to product roadmaps, in alignment with engineering

  • Identify, capture, iterate and implement architecture patterns

Skills

  • Significant Architecture experience
  • Government/Public client experience
  • AWS/Azure Solution experience and relevant certification (good to have)
