Solution Architect – Financial Systems, Procurement & Inventory Integration
Contract: Initial 3 months, likely extension to 6 months – Start mid – August, or before
Start: ASAP
Location: Remote
Day Rate: £575/ £600 per day, Outside IR35
We’re looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join a major financial systems transformation programme.
The organisation is moving from multiple customised, on-prem Financial Management Systems to a shared Oracle Fusion platform.
The role sits across a complex Procurement and Inventory workstream involving:
- Oracle Fusion
- SAP Ariba
- An internally developed Inventory Management platform
- Microsoft Azure-based middleware and integration services
This is not simply an Oracle Fusion or SAP Ariba specialist role. The priority is finding an architect who can bridge business process, functional design, and technical architecture, ensuring that separately developed solution components work together as a coherent end-to-end solution.
The Challenge
The current legacy FMS contains customisations that compensate for limitations elsewhere in the estate. Those customisations cannot simply be replicated in Oracle Fusion.
The programme therefore needs to understand what those legacy capabilities are doing, where they should sit in the future architecture, and how Oracle Fusion, SAP Ariba, inventory systems, and Azure-based integration services should work together.

A key part of the role will be:
- Understanding procurement, inventory, and financial processes
- Providing strong credibility around three-way matching: Purchase Order, Goods Receipt, and Invoice
- Decomposing legacy ERP customisations
- Reviewing and assuring functional and business designs
- Defining the business services and integration capabilities required in the middleware layer
- Ensuring architectural principles are maintained across applications, services, and integrations
- Bridging business, functional, and technical teams
- Providing assurance into both design and test
You will work closely with application architects, business analysts, integration architects, and development teams. You will not be expected to produce detailed integration technical specifications or personally design every Azure service.
What Matters Most
The priorities are:
- Business process credibility
- Strong understanding of procurement, inventory, financial management, and three-way matching.
- Middleware and integration architecture
- A good understanding of enterprise integration patterns, service-oriented architecture, and the challenges of connecting systems with different data models.
- Oracle Fusion
- Highly desirable, but not essential.
- SAP Ariba
- Beneficial, but again not essential.

We would absolutely consider an excellent ERP / financial systems architect without direct Oracle Fusion experience if they can demonstrate strong process knowledge, integration architecture capability, and end-to-end solution assurance.
We’d particularly like to hear from architects with experience in:
- ERP / Financial Management System transformation
- Procurement and inventory architecture
- Three-way matching processes
- Legacy-to-cloud transformation
- Complex multi-system integration
- Oracle ERP / Oracle Fusion
- SAP Ariba or comparable procurement platforms
- Azure integration and middleware
- Service-oriented architecture
- Architectural assurance
This is a strong opportunity for an architect who is comfortable operating between business and technology, challenging designs where needed, and making sure the overall solution works as a whole.
