Grade 5
iD Mobile is one of the fastest growing mobile virtual network operators (MVNOs) in the UK and is part of Currys plc, a leading omni channel retailer operating across the UK, Ireland and Scandinavia with a workforce of more than 30,000 colleagues. As part of our strategic technology transformation, we are introducing a number of key solutions to support our long term business vision and continued subscriber growth. To enable this, we are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to shape, deliver, and evolve technology solutions across a portfolio of business critical initiatives spanning our BSS and OSS estate, digital and retail channels, and network partner integrations.
The Solution Architect will take ownership of solution architecture design and associated technology roadmaps across the iD Mobile estate. The role requires evaluating business needs, collaborating with delivery partners, and ensuring technology solutions are well aligned, cost effective, and architecturally sound. You will work closely with business, engineering, and partner teams to translate business goals into effective, scalable, and secure technical solutions.
You will lead the design of major programmes and initiatives, ensuring that solutions meet business requirements and align to architectural standards. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement, be confident in supporting and guiding other architects, and work effectively in a fast paced, change oriented environment. Collaboration will span multiple teams as well as our host network operator and third party platform providers, with delivery teams located both in the UK and overseas.
The Role
- Lead creation, analysis, and review of solution architectures across a diverse portfolio of projects and programmes.
- Own the end to end design of solutions, ensuring alignment between business requirements and technical needs, using best practices, reference architectures, and reusable assets.
- Define system components, services, technologies, and designs spanning Business, Information, Application, and Technology architecture domains.
- Own the solution design for core mobile capabilities, including customer acquisition and onboarding, SIM and eSIM provisioning, billing and invoicing, real time rating and charging, mobile number porting, tariff and bundle management, and device upgrade eligibility.
- Design solutions across the BSS and OSS estate, maintaining clear separation of concerns between CRM, product catalogue, order management, provisioning, mediation, charging, and billing layers.
- Architect and govern integration with the host mobile network operator and third party platform providers, ensuring resilient, low latency, and commercially efficient interfaces.
- Design for real time, high volume, event driven workloads, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost efficiency as the subscriber base grows.
- Ensure solutions meet the regulatory and compliance obligations applicable to UK mobile operators, including Ofcom requirements, industry porting processes, consumer contract obligations, and PCI DSS.
- Collaborate closely with the Currys Solution Architect to ensure alignment on technology choices, standards, and reference architectures, and to identify and realise synergies and reuse opportunities across the wider Currys group.
- Contribute to multiple complex or large scale programmes in a matrixed environment.
- Support the development and evolution of technology standards, architectural principles, and delivery processes.
- Oversee and guide the development of solutions across hardware, software, operability, scalability, and associated business processes.
- Provide architectural leadership and oversight to delivery teams and engineering partners.
- Review software designs, architectural documentation, and technical capabilities to ensure alignment with strategy and standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
