About the Role
The Solution Designer sits at the intersection of technical expertise and commercial acumen. You will be responsible for designing bespoke pharmacy robot installations that integrate seamlessly into hospital environments across the United Kingdom. Working closely with the sales team and directly with hospital clients, you will conduct site surveys, produce detailed 3D designs, and translate complex spatial and operational constraints into compelling, deliverable solutions.
This is a highly visible, client-facing role that combines field work, design engineering, and product expertise. You will be the technical authority on-site and a trusted partner to pharmacy teams, procurement departments, and hospital estates managers.
Key Responsibilities
Site Surveys & Client Engagement
- Travel to hospital and healthcare client sites across the UK to conduct on-site surveys.
- Take accurate physical measurements of pharmacy and dispensary areas.
- Assess existing infrastructure, utilities, and spatial constraints.
- Build strong relationships with pharmacy managers, estates teams, and procurement leads.
- Capture and document client requirements, preferences, and operational workflows.
3D Design & Technical Documentation
- Produce detailed 3D designs and floor plans using SketchUp and AutoCAD.
- Adapt and customise pharmacy robot configurations to match client site layouts and specifications.
- Create professional design deliverables including renderings, schematics, and installation drawings. (Presentations)
- Ensure designs comply with NHS estates guidelines, building regulations, and safety standards.
- Iterate designs based on client feedback and technical review cycles.

Pre-Sales & Commercial Support
- Act as Product Specialist and technical resource to support the sales team throughout the sales cycle.
- Present solution designs and proposals to clinical, technical, and procurement audiences.
- Respond to technical queries in tenders, RFPs, and client questionnaires.
- Collaborate with sales representatives to develop winning proposals and demonstrate product value.
- Attend client meetings, demonstrations, and exhibitions as required.
- Work closely with international business partners – Notion of German would be a plus.
Product Expertise & Collaboration
- Maintain deep knowledge of the pharmacy robot product range, capabilities, and configuration options.
- Liaise with the engineering and product teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment.
- Provide feedback from client interactions to inform product development and improvement.
- Support handover to project delivery and installation teams with detailed design documentation.
- Liaise with the project management team and transfer progressively the project to them in a collaborative way (using Monday.com).
- Support the sales process (using Salesforce) and booking process by creating orders in SAPs and follow ECRs in Agile.
Candidate Profile
Essential Skills & Experience
- Good knowledge in CAD (2D-3D) - Proficiency in SketchUp and AutoCAD for 3D design and 2D technical drawing is a plus.
- Experience taking and interpreting physical site measurements and translating them into technical designs.
- Demonstrable experience in a client-facing technical or pre-sales role.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural or mechanical plans and layouts.
- Strong communication skills — able to present technical content clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills to handle multiple concurrent design briefs.
- Full, clean UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly to client sites.

Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in a healthcare, pharmacy, medical devices, or hospital environment.
- Background in solution design, systems integration, or technical pre-sales.
- Knowledge of NHS procurement processes and hospital estates standards.
- Experience with pharmacy automation or healthcare technology products.
- Familiarity with BIM (Building Information Modelling) workflows is a plus.

Base Compensation: 42K£ to 45K£ (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as location, education, experience, and skillset.)
