At South West Water, we're investing in the future of our wastewater network to deliver resilient, reliable and sustainable services for our customers, communities and the environment. As part of this commitment, we're looking for a Solution Development Wastewater Programme Lead to drive the development of major wastewater investment programmes, helping shape the engineering solutions that will deliver long-term environmental, regulatory and customer outcomes.

About the role:

This is an opportunity to play a leading role in developing the investment programmes that will shape the future of wastewater services across the South West. You'll work on complex and high-profile projects, helping to deliver resilient infrastructure, improved environmental performance and better outcomes for customers and communities.

Working closely with colleagues across Asset Management, Operations, Delivery and our framework partners, you'll help identify, develop and assess investment options that deliver the greatest value for our customers, the environment and the region.

What you'll be doing:

As Solution Development Wastewater Programme Lead, you'll lead the development of wastewater investment programmes from identifying asset needs through to option selection and outline design, ensuring solutions are safe, efficient, cost-effective and aligned to business objectives.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading the development and option selection of major wastewater investment programmes.
  • Translating business, operational and asset management needs into robust technical solutions and outline designs.
  • Coordinating multidisciplinary consultants and design partners to deliver programme objectives.
  • Driving efficient option development and assessment to achieve best-value outcomes.
  • Managing programme scope, priorities, resources and key milestones.
  • Collaborating with Asset Management, Operations, Delivery, Commercial and Performance teams.
  • Challenging assumptions and solution approaches to maximise value, resilience and deliverability.
  • Identifying opportunities for innovation, standardisation and cross-programme efficiencies.
  • Establishing effective governance, reporting and stakeholder engagement arrangements.
  • Monitoring programme performance against time, cost and regulatory commitments.
  • Promoting a strong culture of health, safety and environmental leadership.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
