Solution Architect – London Market Insurance
Location: London, UK
Industry: Insurance – London Market
Contract Duration: 12 months
Work Mode: Hybrid – 10 days per month in office
Important Mandatory Requirement
Candidates must have proven, direct London Market Insurance experience. This requirement is mandatory and non-negotiable. Candidates with architecture experience in other sectors such as Banking, Healthcare, or non-London Market environments will not be considered.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to support a major Underwriting Transformation Programme within the London Market Insurance sector. The role will play a key part in defining solution architecture and supporting strategic technology decisions, including the future replacement and modernisation of the Policy Administration System (PAS).
The Solution Architect will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, external consultancies, System Integrators, and technology partners to shape the future underwriting technology landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-level and detailed solution designs, Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), and supporting technical documentation.
- Develop current-state, target-state, transition-state, and interim-state architecture models.
- Define migration strategies and transitional architectures for platform modernisation.
- Facilitate architecture workshops and solution design sessions.
- Translate business requirements into scalable and practical technology solutions.
- Support PAS replacement strategy, vendor assessments, and solution evaluations.
- Support the definition of future underwriting capabilities and operating models.
- Contribute to capability mapping, process transformation, and platform roadmaps.
- Work closely with System Integrators, implementation partners, and third-party suppliers.
- Ensure solutions comply with architecture standards, governance processes, and design principles.
- Review architecture and solution designs produced by vendors and delivery partners.
- Support technology selection and Proof-of-Concept (PoC) activities.

Essential Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of relevant technology/architecture experience.
- Proven experience as a Solution Architect within London Market Insurance.
- Strong understanding of the London Market insurance ecosystem.
- Significant experience delivering large-scale insurance transformation programmes.
- Previous experience delivering or supporting a London Market PAS implementation, replacement, or migration.
- Strong understanding of underwriting processes and underwriting operating models.
- Experience developing migration strategies, transition architectures, and modernisation roadmaps.
- Experience documenting current-state and target-state technology landscapes.
- Strong stakeholder management and architecture workshop facilitation experience.
