Solutions Architect - Finance Systems

Octopus Energy has grown exponentially over the last 10 years. It is now a complex multi-billion turnover international group, which participates in multiple industry verticals including retail utilities, utilities management, generation, EV leasing, and software sales. We are committed to innovation, sustainability, and customer satisfaction and as part of our growth strategy, we are implementing a number of new business management applications to streamline our finance operations and improve efficiency.

As a result, we are seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to assess & define the integration strategy in our Finance Systems team. We are looking for someone who can take a fresh look at our current landscape, define what better looks like, and help identify the most effective path to meaningful change.

You’ll play an important role in shaping how we work: setting direction without overcomplicating things, supporting the team with care, and balancing technical curiosity with a down-to-earth mindset.

This is an initial 6-month contract with potential to extend depending on business need.

What you'll do

  • Be responsible for strategic and architectural technical decisions with a particular focus on Financial Operational Systems (Finance, Supply Chain Procurements and Sales)
  • Define and evaluate architecture options for finance systems and integrations, and present recommendations to senior stakeholders
  • Support the definition of a cohesive and consistent data model that can serve as the bedrock of all our financial systems whilst maintaining a global view of the impact on other tech systems
  • Assess existing systems & propose solutions to evolve finance technology to keep up with a rapidly growing scale up business
  • Collaborate with internal & external development teams during the solution design phase to ensure that any technical solution is fit for purpose
  • Collaborate closely with our TechOps and Security teams to ensure that the solution we choose fits within the organization, is scalable, supportable, and secure

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
