IT Solutions Architect - Energy Sector - Remote based

Inside IR35
3 months initial contract
Remote based
£675 per day Inside IR35 via Umbrella

Our client is seeking an experienced Solutions Architect to provide architecture expertise relating to a number of initiatives and projects in their Corporate business unit (includes Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Property Service etc). They operate within a regulated environment and their technology landscape is large scale, complex and highly interconnected.

You will be an expert in one or (preferably) more of the following domains:

  • Business and Application Architecture
  • Technology and Infrastructure Architecture (including Integration)
  • Data Architecture (Enterprise Information Management and Data & Analytics)

Solutions Architect

Day to day you will be working on specific, defined deliverables which may include:

  • Creating and iterating technology visions, strategies, roadmaps and associated portfolio initiatives, aligning to and supporting business strategies
  • Working with key business stakeholders to identify business needs
  • Producing solution options papers with strategically aligned recommendations (including trade-offs, compromises, and conflicts) and proposed MVP’s, ensuring alignment of technical capability to the technical roadmap, IT Strategy and business objectives.
  • Collaborating with product managers to build business cases to proceed to delivery
  • Creation of reusable architecture patterns
  • Architecture and design assurance for Corporate platforms and associated integrations
  • Collaborating with product managers and other stakeholders to create and maintain robust and hygienic backlogs of Corporate platform features and associated enablers

Solution Architect - Knowledge & Skills

  • Proven business and technical acumen with a strategy and architecture bias.
  • A proven understanding of cloud and digital technologies and agile architecture techniques coupled with an open, delivery-focused and customer-centric mindset.
  • The ability to establish technical credibility within the professional community and successfully convey complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Significant end-to-end design and architecture experience across a number of technologies, systems and products with demonstrable skills in managing complexity and ambiguity, assessing and recommending system options, managing non-functional requirements and maintaining an architectural runway in a complex environment to tight timescales.
  • Understanding of complex compliance and regulatory requirements and how to incorporate technology, infrastructure and security requirements into end-to-end architectural designs.
  • Experience of agile development practices such as Scrum, Test Driven Development, Behaviour Driven Development, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment.

Desirable

  • Experience of agile collaboration tools such as JIRA, Confluence, etc.
  • Experience of enterprise modelling tools, ideally LeanIX
  • Experience and certification in a selection of the following:
    • Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure
    • AWS Code Tools, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Terraform, Ansible
    • Dell Boomi and cloud-native integration technologies
    • IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
    • SAFe certifications such as Agilist, Architect, DevOps Practitioner
    • TOGAF certification
