Role: Solution Architect

Location: London, Haig House, with hybrid working
Contract Type: Permanent, Full Time
Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: £55,548 to £60,458 per annum inclusive of London Supplement

Are you passionate about designing technology that delivers real impact? We have an opportunity for a Solution Architect to help shape our future, designing secure, scalable and user-centred solutions to improve our services, ways of working, and ability to serve the Armed Forces community.

Here at the Royal British Legion, we are currently embarking on an exciting new phase with our Customer, Technology and Change directorate. Together this team, covering Technology, Data Protection, Business Planning, and Change & Transformation, takes great pride in supporting across RBL with all things technology, security, digital, data, business planning, portfolio and project management, and change. It’s a great time to join as our organisation begins to drive our new 10-year strategy and ensures we are best able to continue to make a difference to our Armed Forces community now and for the future.

This newly created role will see you work across the organisation to translate strategic objectives into practical technology solutions. You will provide architectural expertise across a range of change, transformational and operational initiatives, ensuring new systems and services align with our technology roadmap, architectural standards, and long-term vision.

Working closely with business leaders, product owners, technical teams, and senior stakeholders, you'll play a key role in guiding technology decisions, evaluating solutions, managing architectural risks. This will ensure our technology landscape remains modern, sustainable, and fit for the future.

Reporting to our Head of Design and Architecture, key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading the end-to-end solution design of products, platforms, and technology initiatives across the organization
  • Developing and maintaining technology roadmaps and artefacts to support organizational priorities, transformation objectives, and architecture practices
  • Working closely with product owners and stakeholders to understand business goals, user needs, and technical requirements
  • Providing architectural guidance throughout the product and project lifecycles
  • Supporting transformation programmes and help modernise legacy technology environments
  • Championing best practice in architecture, DevOps, automation, and modern engineering approaches

You will be contracted to our Haig House hub with a minimum expectation of two days per week working in person at the hub and flexibility for working remotely/at home when not onsite.
