Solution Architect
We are looking for an experienced Solution Architect to join our architecture function and take a leading role in designing complex managed infrastructure and cloud solutions.
This is a senior, customer-facing role that sits between presales, onboarding, and delivery. The Solution Architect is responsible for owning solution design from early customer engagement through to delivery handover, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially viable, and aligned with our platforms.
You will work closely with Sales, the Lead Architect, delivery teams, and operations to ensure that customer solutions are well-designed, clearly documented, and ready to be implemented within a managed service environment.
This role is based on-site at our HQ in Blantyre. Close collaboration with colleagues in architecture, delivery, and operations is a key part of how we work. Travel to customer sites or our data centres may be required from time to time.
This is a role that requires a high degree of autonomy. The Solution Architect is expected to operate independently, take ownership of customer engagements from an early stage, and proactively drive solution design forward in collaboration with customers and internal teams.
What You’ll Be Doing
Designing Customer Solutions
- You will be expected to take ownership of solution design activities, coordinating with customers and internal teams to ensure progress and momentum throughout the engagement. This will typically involve:
- Leading customer design and onboarding workshops
- Gathering and refining technical and business requirements
- Translating requirements into clear architectural solutions
- Producing high-quality High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), and project artefacts
- Ensuring designs align with our service offerings and standards

Your designs must be practical, supportable, and suitable for delivery by engineering teams.
Supporting Presales and Early Engagements
- While this is not a pure presales role, you will be involved early in the customer lifecycle where appropriate.
- Supporting Sales colleagues in technical discussions with customers
- Helping shape solutions that meet customer needs within commercial and service constraints
- Contributing to proposals, solution descriptions, and technical responses
- Ensuring solutions proposed during presales can be delivered and supported effectively
Owning Design Through Handover
- You will act as the design authority through the transition from architecture into delivery. This includes:
- Clearly documenting assumptions, dependencies, and constraints
- Working with delivery teams to ensure designs are understood and buildable
- Providing clarification and guidance during implementation
- Reducing the need for late-stage redesign or escalation
The goal is smooth, predictable delivery with minimal rework.
Working Across the Platform Portfolio
- As a Solution Architect in an MSP environment, you will design solutions that may span multiple service areas, including:
- Compute platforms (shared, dedicated, and private)
- Storage services (file, block, and object)
- Networking and connectivity services
- Backup, archive, and disaster recovery
- Security controls and managed security services
You will work closely with the Lead Architect to ensure designs align with wider architectural direction and evolving platform standards.

What We’re Looking For
Experience and Background
- Significant experience designing infrastructure and cloud solutions in a Managed Service Provider (MSP) or Cloud Services Provider (CSP) environment
- A self-starter who is comfortable operating independently, taking ownership of solution design and progressing work without the need for detailed instruction
- Broad technical experience across compute, storage, networking, backup, and disaster recovery
- Experience owning end-to-end solution design rather than isolated components
- Strong awareness of operational and Day-2 considerations
- Comfortable using AI-assisted tools and modern technologies to support solution design, documentation, and day-to-day working practices, and willing to help drive their effective adoption within the team
- Experience in an MSP environment is a strong advantage, as this role requires an understanding of platform-based delivery, SLAs, and supportability.
Architecture and Design Skills
- Proven experience producing HLDs and LLDs
- Comfortable leading technical workshops and customer discussions
- Able to take ambiguous or incomplete requirements and turn them into clear, structured designs
- Pragmatic approach to balancing technical quality, commercial reality, and operational constraints
Desirable Experience
- Experience working with public sector or regulated customers
- Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO 27001, GDPR)
- Exposure to cloud, hybrid, or sovereign cloud platforms
- Experience working in environments focused on automation and platform standardisation
