Solution Architect
Contract | Up to £500 per day | Remote | Active SC clearance required
TrueNorth is recruiting a Solution Architect to support a central government client. The role requires experience with AI, ABACUS and ArchiMate, alongside the ability to translate business requirements into clear, deliverable solution designs.
You’ll work with business stakeholders and technical teams to shape solutions, document architecture and support design decisions through the delivery lifecycle.
Key responsibilities
- Clarify business problems, requirements and intended outcomes, establishing an appropriate scope for each solution.
- Develop and document solution options, explaining recommendations and trade-offs within business and technical constraints.
- Create architecture models using ABACUS and ArchiMate to communicate designs and dependencies.
- Apply AI experience when assessing solution options and advising stakeholders.
- Work with other architects to align designs with organisational strategy, principles and standards.
- Support architecture governance and assurance, recording decisions and managing design risks.
- Communicate proposals to technical and non-technical stakeholders, building agreement on the approach.
- Support delivery teams as designs are implemented, refining the architecture as requirements evolve.

Skills and experience
- A track record of developing solution designs and supporting their implementation.
- Relevant AI experience.
- Practical experience with ABACUS and ArchiMate.
- Ability to produce clear architecture models, design documentation and recommendations.
- Experience working within architecture governance and assurance processes.
- Strong stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to explain technical choices clearly.
- Active SC clearance.

Desirable experience
- Previous architecture experience within central government.
- Familiarity with government architecture standards and design approval processes.
Working arrangement: The role is remote, with travel required only for laptop collection.
