American Express is recruiting for the role of Solutions Architect and Payments Expert – Emerging Payments Architecture. This role focuses on solution architecture for payments products, working with network product and technology teams to define solutions and contribute to American Express Payment Products. It combines technical and business knowledge, with strong written communication and collaboration valued.

What you’ll do

  • Mentor junior Solutions Architects and cross-functional colleagues.
  • Identify technical solutions and process improvements from business needs.
  • Work with business partners and product engineering teams on architecture practices and governance.
  • Lead alignment of platform solutions with blueprints, roadmaps, and stakeholders.
  • Lead solution architecture design and design or code reviews.
  • Supervise API strategy and the implementation roadmap with business and data architects.
  • Collaborate with product and business teams to align technology initiatives with business objectives.

What they’re looking for

  • Experience and technical expertise in solution architecture and design of complex distributed systems.
  • Experience and technical expertise in RESTful APIs.
  • Experience and technical expertise in architecting cloud-based systems.
  • Experience and technical expertise in evaluating new technologies.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience working in agile teams, with some exposure to SAFe preferred.
  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or a similar subject.

Additional role information

  • Knowledge of 3D Secure or Safekey is desirable.
  • Knowledge of Payment Tokenisation is desirable.
  • Past experience as a software developer would be a valuable asset.
